Dental Crowns

At our convenient locations in Crestview, Pensacola, Mary Esther, and Santa Rosa Beach, Comfort Dental Care & Orthodontics offers dental crowns to local residents who are looking for a way to improve their smiles.

What Are Dental Crowns?

Sometimes called caps, dental crowns are placed over your tooth to help to restore size, strength, and appearance. Crowns are typically used to help support and protect a tooth that is weak or broken. Dental crowns offer both strength and structure to teeth that are lacking those qualities through decay, damage, or trauma. Crowns are used to support and protect broken, worn down or misshapen teeth, cover an implant, or hold a bridge in place.

Dental Crown Benefits and Treatment Options

With our aesthetic and medical expertise, your new crown will appear in such a way that it is customized to blend in seamlessly with the rest of your teeth. Crowns help restore the appearance and function of your smile while protecting the natural teeth you do have from future damage.

What Is the Procedure for Dental Crowns?

Dental crowns may often involve two visits – one in which the tooth is examined and prepared for the crown, and the other in which the placement of the permanent crown is set.

First, an impression of the tooth combined with digital imaging data capturing where the crown will be placed. Next, the crown is manufactured before it is returned to our office, typically within 2-3 weeks of your initial appointment. During this time, we will make and place a temporary crown to help protect your tooth.

Preparing for Dental Crowns

Utilizing X-rays, we will check the roots of your tooth and the bone area to determine if it can support a crown. Your tooth and the area around it will be numbed for your comfort; we always make sure you are completely comfortable.

Recovery from Dental Crowns

During your second visit, the area around your tooth and gum may be numbed for your comfort in preparation for receiving your crown. Your tooth may be sensitive to the heat and cold immediately after your procedure, and you should avoid chewing hard, sticky, or chewy foods which can pull off the crown or cause it to break before it sets permanently.

How Much Do Dental Crowns Cost?

Your dental crown costs will vary depending on the tooth being crowned as well the material used in the crown and the condition of the underlying tooth and gums. Fortunately, in some cases, dental insurance will help to defray some of your costs, but if you do not have dental insurance, then there is still help available because Comfort Dental Care and Orthodontics works with CareCredit® and OrthoBanc® to provide convenient financing to help you get the dental care you need and deserve.

Are Dental Crowns Right for Me?

If your teeth are worn down, broken, or chip more often, or if you are concerned about the aesthetic appearance of your teeth, then a dental crown may be just the right solution. Crowns help provide added support while strengthening and protecting the affected tooth. Schedule a consultation today to learn more about your candidacy.

Braces

When your teeth are crooked, crowded, irregularly spaced, out of alignment, or protruding, braces are typically the go-to treatment method to correct them. Zygomatic implants are a more advanced form of dental implants specifically used with the upper jaw when the jaw is resorbed or eroded following tooth removal. These implants provide the support for upper implant bridgework where other implants do not work.

Dental Crowns

Decay or trauma can cause loss of tooth structure and can compromise function as well as esthetics. Extensive loss of tooth structure can best be replaced with a restoration that covers your entire tooth as in a crown. This “full coverage” restoration can strengthen your tooth and in the hands of an expert can provide a long-lasting esthetic and functional result.

Dentures

Tooth loss is challenging on many levels. Not only can it affect what you eat and how you chew leading to more serious health concerns, but it can also make you feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. We want you to be your best self. Dentures may help you get there.

Dental Sealants

Sealants are a thin, protective coating that bonds to the surface of your teeth. When properly applied, sealants can help prevent cavities. Best of all, sealants do not require numbing or drilling and are generally painless. Developed to ward off decay before it affects a tooth, they are most commonly used on those teeth most prone to cavities.

Porcelain Inlays

Porcelain inlays are hard; custom manufactured inserts that are usually placed in larger cavities and areas where there is less tooth structure.

Porcelain Onlays

Porcelain onlays are often referred to as partial crowns, and they are generally placed on your existing tooth as a base and fitted onto the tooth.

Teeth Cleaning

At Comfort Dental, we believe that getting your teeth cleaned every 6 months keep your teeth and gums as healthy as possible.

Composite Fillings

When decay occurs in a tooth, it’s important to take steps right away to address the issue. A filling is used to treat a decaying tooth and halt the spread of further tooth decay. Composite fillings are made of a natural resin composite material, as opposed to metal fillings.

While many of us do our best to keep our teeth healthy, sometimes a tooth needs to be taken out to keep you healthy. In these cases, an extraction is necessary.

Veneers

When it comes to efficient solutions for helping you achieve that beautiful smile you’ve always wanted, one of the most popular, effective, and fastest methods is porcelain veneers.

Dental Implants

When teeth are lost, dentists typically replace them with full or partial dentures. Dental implants are permanent posts that act as “roots” for the replacement teeth.

Same-Day Implants

The dentists at Comfort Dental Care and Orthodontics use the All-on-4® procedure to fit patients with a fixed prosthesis that is supported by four implants.

Mini Dental Implants

Mini dental implants are smaller dental implants that work in the same manner as traditional dental implants. Because they are smaller in diameter, it is necessary to have a very precise replacement so that they function correctly.
